Drop What You're Doing! RAW Wants Focus on Clash at the Castle...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts!
Having a good Monday? Looks like mine is about to get just a bit better but that’s another matter. There are few talking points circulating the Wrestling World. Want to chat about it? Let’s.
So, Becky Lynch is officially a free agent. Word is that Tony Khan offered her a big money deal that would surpass any current female wrestler. Do you think Lynch takes it? Most don’t and I don’t blame them. All that money doesn’t make AEW a better promotion. They still need to work on their presentation while WWE just needs to stay interesting.
One would also think that over time, WWE should probably win out over AEW. Not to say AEW will fail or falter in the future it’s just WWE is established and as long as Lynch performs well, the amount of money possible to earn only goes up. AEW has to focus more on getting fans in the seats. I understand that acquiring someone like Lynch would help that but not if they don’t have enough quality action to keep her busy and challenged.
AEW’s Women’s Division is improving but it has plenty to be desired. I appreciate what Toni Storm is doing but she, Mercedes Moné/Sasha Banks & Saraya/Paige can only do so much. The point I’m making is, I’m not sure if AEW has anything for Lynch outside of a new experience and potentially more money. I feel she’s better off in WWE but if she’s taking time off, let her live her life. She’s earned the right to touch some grass.
In other news, Andrade addressed the question of why WWE tends to lump all the ethnic factions together or against each other. Long story short, lazy storytelling. Remember, as much as we get familiar with our players, the point is to expose the product to new fans. Those new fans won’t know what’s going on but it’s easy to see the Latinos, the Africans and/or African-Americans, the Japanese, The Polynesian and so on and so forth. The Judgment Day is forward thinking as is Alpha Academy and I think all factions have the possibility to branch out if it makes for good television but since that’s not always guaranteed, I don’t blame people for keeping things simple.
Us vs. Them is as old as human history and it’s just an easy starting point when it comes to setting up a fight. Don’t think that WWE or any other promotion will ever veer away from it. What we must look for is embellishment. At some point, the Bloodline should take in whomever serves their “bottom line”. It makes for another old story, when the old school goes “they’re not one of us and never will be”. We kinda got a taste when Sami Zayn was running with them. The New Day should consider becoming a “Brand New Day” taking in whomever fits their brand of mischief and not just has dark skin. Damage CTRL should venture to improve their English and take in anyone who’s “bad”. I would be looking at Chelsea Green and Piper Niven if I were them. Give it time, kids. They gotta mix things up just to keep things fresh from time to time. They’ll have to get adventurous by default.
In any case, that brings us to tonight’s RAW. It’s all about Clash at the Castle, which is actually next weekend. There’s a lot planned tonight as Natalya will continue to break in the new kids. This time around, it’s Kiana James. Speaking of the New Day, they’ll try on AOP for size. Finn Bálor will see if Dragon Lee lives up to the hype. Sheamus will see if he can squash all of Ludwig Kaiser’s noise. Ricochet will see if he can trip up Bron Breakker and we can’t forget Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio. You had to go find the clip but Morgan planted a big ole kiss on Dom. What does it mean? Well, Dom ain’t letting it get to him that’s for sure. He’s playing it coool We’ll see if we get anything good out of it.
In the meantime, the unofficial watch party will be at 8pm PDT per usual. Nothing fancy just me giving my spin on the action. You’re always welcome to play along. Having fun with it makes it easier to watch. Always has, always will.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
