SmackDown Clears the Way for Survivor Series...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Enjoying this Friday? Getting used to the time change, if it applies? Can’t say this is the most exciting end of the week but some beneficial changes are pending on the horizon for me so, can’t really complain.

As for the Wrestling World, there are a few things going on but we’ll only touch on one issue because I keep seeing it pop up but besides that, it should be a short post. So, without further ado, let’s get to it.

As many of you may have already heard, Ridge Holland now going by his real name, Luke Menzies, has got himself fired from WWE. Word is that he bad-mouthed them on social media and the response was to be expected. Unfortunately for him, the timing couldn’t be worse. On top of that, he suffered an injury working a TNA show and may have to get neck fusion surgery. Worst case, the man is out of action for about 2 years with a family to feed and house.

The dire circumstances have forced Menzies to resort to setting up a Go Fund Me account to help manage the inevitable expenses. Naturally, this has gotten him some flak and I can’t help but feel this is a dose of Karma.

Most know that a botched suplex he performed on Big E. is the reason E. may never wrestle again and though he never intended that to happen and has been apologetic ever since, his current circumstances (the neck injury especially) seem to prove that what goes around comes around.

It's a tough situation all around but with the recent news of him criticizing the company, it also seems that the man may simply have poor judgment. He has to understand that he’s inherently on thin ice given his history and he had to be thankful for everything and anything even if WWE was treating him like crap.

Being the cause of a beloved performer’s injury will always be hard to live down, if it’s even possible, and he’s coming off like we should give him a break already. E. may never wrestle again. The man can be genuinely blamed for ending E.’s in-ring career at present so, all he can really do is get used to the taste of humble pie.

Of course, I don’t want his family to suffer but these are the slings and arrows of fate that he dished himself up. Some WWE talent, mostly mid-carders, have shown sympathy and have been offering up $1,000 donations. I saw that Omos has pledged to donate the amount monthly and so, that’s very kind of him.

It's not the easiest predicament to solve but I hope that it does give Menzies the time to think and hopefully find some healing in humility. He may have to consider a life outside of wrestling and though that may be a harsh outcome this is how life goes sometimes. Let’s at least allow him some grace to land on his feet.

With that out of the way, we can turn to tonight’s SmackDown. It’s the unofficial fallout conclusion for last week’s Saturday Night: Main Event and we can expect to see Ilja Dragunov continue the Open Challenge tradition for the US Championship. Charlotte Flair will take on Nia Jax since they pulled some beef out of the freezer to stew. Chelsea Green will try to regain the Women’s US Championship from Giulia. We’ll see if Jade Cargill has gotten any better on the mic as she speaks of her new Championship. We’ll see who interrupts Cody Rhodes’ Championship speech. And Nick Aldis will reveal the 1st Round matches for the “Last Time Is Now” Tournament.

We just have to pop dinner in the oven tonight so, no problem getting comfortable for me. The unofficial watch party will start at 8pm PST so feel free to join if it’s just too cold outside.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
