SmackDown Keeps Us on Track for Survivor Series...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
It’s a rainy one in Southern California. Given the time of year, it’s
a good time to stay nice and snuggly inside. I’ve been making the most of it π As for the
Wrestling World, there are a few things going on but nothing setting the world
on fire. We’ll get into a bit of it but this shouldn’t be a long post. Not that
much to talk about but enough for a brief chat. Let’s get started, shall we?
We’ll start in the Realm of AEW as they had their Blood & Guts
event on Dynamite this week. All I cared about was the main event so, I
checked that out. Well, I just hope everyone has their immunizations up to date
because this stuff is a mess. So, I didn’t care for the “gore” but my
focus, as always, is on the progression of the Future and I see that we’re
getting there slowly but surely. As it should be.
Jon Moxley has been operating with some humility as one would think he’d
be the final entrant, but he let PAC have the honors which is fitting because
if we’re going by skill, it’s PAC who closes, hands down. PAC’s role to play
was to dispatch of the scrappy Darby Allin who got himself tossed onto a flaming
table. Yet, the “big news” is how Kyle O’Reilly appears to have Mox’s number as
he was able to get him to tap out and secure the victory for the Faces. With
Mox proving he’s human, do the Riders of Death start to doubt their fearless leader?
It all depends on how they want it to go. We all know that every faction comes
together only to break apart so, deterioration is inevitable but how it all
happens is up for debate.
Personally, it doesn’t really matter to me as long as everything goes
down dramatically enough to support the Future. Things have to get nuts enough that
“drastic moves” are made all around. Faces have to be sick of the Riders and
Mox has to do enough for just about everyone to get “sick of him”, especially. All
I’ll say is that things can’t get ridiculous. Over the top, sure but if it gets
silly, it could impact the Future and that would be a shame. There’s still a
lot of time on the clock so there’s no rush. They should all have fun with this
but things have to be “believable” more or less. Why it ramps up to what it
might has to make some sense.
It doesn’t have to happen this way, but I can see Mox trying to reassert
himself after these “missteps”. There could be a thoughtful push to “preemptively
strike” the Riders’ enemies going forward to send the message that though the
Faces got the jump this time, don’t expect that to be the norm. This message
should be sent within reason to start but as the Faces start to fight back,
that’s when things can gradually start to get “out of hand”. Mox should be the
one to take it to the next level and it’s up to them if the Riders start to
question the direction.
If anyone does, however, my vote is for Wheeler Yuta to start to
crack. This doesn’t have to happen this year but depending on what goes down, I’m
seeing him as being the one starting have pangs of conscience. He could eventually
get ousted and someone else could get recruited to take his place. It could
serve as a nice subplot. They have to think of the future after the Future after
all. In the meantime, I’ll leave them to it. I’ll observe the fallout and give
my 2¢ if need be. Funny how that phrase may have to be updated to 10¢ in the
future. With no more pennies, I guess it becomes 2 nickels instead.
In any case, let’s head back to the WWE Universe. We all know that
this time of year is reserved for the final big PLE/PPV and that’s Survivor
Series. It tends to come with WarGames but I’ve been seeing that a lot of fans
are losing interest in the concept. Not sure why. I don’t hate it but I do
kinda miss the simple teams going for it set up. Perhaps in the future, they can
have Team Leaders who recruit and instead of bragging rights being the goal, it
may be to settle on-going beefs or something. I see they’re trying to insert
more drama into the content. For instance, Drew McIntyre could be a Leader in
the future and he could assemble other heels ‘cause he’s just so sick and tired
of Cody Rhodes. Rhodes, in response, assembles his “Team of Justice” to squash
this constantly pissy noise. I don’t need it to be brand affiliated. I want to
see whoever puts on a good show so, that’s how the leads should proceed. Just tossing
out ideas.
While they figure all that out, for tonight’s SmackDown we can
expect to see Ilja Dragunov continue to build respect for the US Championship
Open Challenge. Sami Zayn will check in on Solo Sikoa. The “new and improved”
Jade Cargill will get in B-Fab’s face for running her mouth. LA Knight will
face a mystery opponent for a shot at being John Cena’s final opponent and Jey
Uso will try to make quick work of The Miz to advance in the same tourney.
Dinner is a joint effort tonight so, I won’t be too distracted. I
should be nice and comfortable by the 8 o’clock hour (Pacific Time) and so, if
you don’t have anything else going on, feel free to join in the fun. It’s just
another way to pass the time.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
