Survivor Series 2025 - Matches of Interest

How's It Going, Enthusiasts?

Happy Survivor Series! Here we are again and I wouldn't say I'm excited but I am curious about the show. It's better than previous years, that's for sure but it's hard to say how it all goes. Though things are in a better place, it doesn't guarantee a good show. However, the likelihood of it being one is higher than usual, I'll give it that.

So, we'll see if they avoid being too formulaic but it's due to that tendency that I'll focus outside of the WarGames Matches. Let's start with Dominik Mysterio vs. John Cena. This is for the Intercontinental Championship and how it goes will give us insight into what direction WWE wants to go.

First, let's just look at the facts. It's Cena's Retirement Tour so, keeping a Title on him doesn't make sense. Yet, it's also his retirement tour so, does it make sense for him to take the L against a punk like Dom? Personally, I'd have Cena win so that the Last Time Is Now Tournament becomes a match for the Intercontinental Championship as well. I feel that's an honorable way to go. It's an indirect passing of the torch.

Giving the Title back to Dom feels shortsighted. How does him scheming his way through remain interesting? Eventually, someone would have to put him in his place. I guess what I'm getting at is that returning the Title to Dom makes it more about Dom. If this is about Cena getting his flowers, I feel it's best to keep focus on him. Dom's young. There's time to flesh him out. I'd keep the focus on Cena so that when the final showdown goes down, there's more than just sending off Cena. Whoever wins has the IC Championship too and can continue their story accordingly. If Dom wins, it's on them to make it interesting. We'll see what happens.

This show's card is short so the only other match to contemplate is Nikki Bella vs. Stephanie Vaquer. This one's interesting because all eyes will be on Bella. Can she keep up? Vaquer has made it clear she's no slouch. She's where's she's at for good reason so, what's Bella got to offer?

She was never great but she got up to speed eventually. She's been out the game a while and we can safely presume that the hardships in her personal life probably had more to do with her return than anything else. Is this match just to help along Vaquer or does Bella actually have something to bring to the table? I don't see Bella winning fair so if she somehow takes it, that will be the story going forward.

To be honest, that may be more interesting. As I've voiced before, Vaquer already winning all the top trophies is a dull story. She needs to have ups and downs. I don't mind her finding out the hard way what life in the WWE Universe is like. Being the best doesn't exactly mean you win. Just look at AJ Styles. There's more to it than that. Can Vaquer really "play the game"?

I suppose we'll see. I'll probably start settling in around the 3 o'clock hour, Pacific time. The WarGames Matches just have to be a good time. I'm putting my money on the Women's being the better of the 2 but hopefully the men manage to present an entertaining time. Let's have some fun finding out.

See You in a Bit,
