Saturday Night: Main Event (IV) - Matches of Interest
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts!
It’s another Saturday Night: Main Event and I’m not sure how to really feel about it. The real talking point is how I had to reconfigure my streaming services to accommodate. That was a pain but who knows. I got myself some deals and may be able to further streamline so, perhaps it’s a strange necessary evil.
Regardless, we are all gathered here tonight to see how a few Championships fare. Gotta keep things going. Can’t just let the Titles sit to gather dust. Out of them all, I’m looking more at the Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship. We’ve got Penta (aka Lucha-Mitsu) and Rusev gunning for Dominik Mysterio. Dom has proven he’ll bend the rules so, what clever ways will he manage to retain this time? Or will we get a shocker? I don’t mind either way. Though Dom is improving by the day, he’s not someone I need to see wrestle. He’s fun, though. I don’t mind his matches but I doubt he ever main events, if you know what I mean.
That’s okay, in my book. Not everyone needs to or should for that matter. However, and this is off topic, I think it’s good to “play the lottery” so to speak and have the odd man out win on occasion. It does happen. Not often but every now and then the long shot proves everyone wrong. We know it’s scripted but it’s supposed to mimic real life and sometimes the “impossible” does happen. I would like the “you got to be kidding me” moment from time to time.
If that were to happen in this match, I’d say it going to Lucha-Mitsu would be the believable shocker. He’s got the skills and can match Dom’s wiliness and he would simply have to outmaneuver Rusev.
Moreover, Rusev is a believable winner as is Dom so, if that were to be put to the test, here is a good place. However, I wouldn’t be disappointed with how this goes as long as it’s a solid match. Let’s hope they have some fun out there.
There are only 4 matches on the card so I’ll basically leave it at that. I think CM Punk will probably best Jey Uso so that he can wear the crown while the getting’s good. Given that, it just has to be a good match. Which I think they can pull off.
Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes just made their match interesting with last night’s SmackDown contract signing so it can work going either way. With Lord Seth Rollins sidelined, it may be a good idea to switch things up so that the landscape is “totally different” when he returns. Will he still be relevant? Able to keep up? Life tosses us these sorts of curve balls. Will he adapt or die?
As for the Ladies, it’s Jade Cargill’s fall midterm. She gets to show us what she’s learned. I don’t see her winning, unless Stratton has an injury or something, but we should get a look at how she is progressing.
I’d say the mic is her biggest hurdle. I don’t mind a little sloppiness in the ring. It makes it look real. Too clean and it’s clearly staged. Forgive me if I like to be fooled.
I’ll leave it at that. Like I said, I’m attempting carnitas today so, I’ll be a little distracted but watching. I’m liking the understated-ness of this event. There’s a lot of potential. We’ll see if they scratch the surface.
The unofficial watch party will start at 4pm PDT. Stop by if you haven’t had too much candy.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
