SmackDown Follows the New Course to War Games / Survivor Series...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
Happy Friday! So, it’s not the most exciting week. There’s stuff going on but nothing setting the world on fire. This should be a fairly short post, so if you have a few minutes to spare, feel free to continue to read through. Let’s see what’s caught my eye.
We’ll stop first in the Realm of AEW as the Moxley Takeover is in full effect but what I liked about this past week was how other players got some more visibility. I have to say Darby Allin jumping on the Death Riders from the top of the entryway was fun to watch. See, if you’re gonna descend from the sky it might as well be on top of someone. Why go through all the drama for no effect? Also, Claudio Castagnoli aka Cesaro was subtly humorous contradicting Wheeler Yuta. I hope that was just a dash of foreshadowing, but we’ll see. Castagnoli also demonstrated what he brings to the table, as we all know that though he is leanly built, he’s one of the strongest in the Industry pound-for-pound. When the Riders went to make their escape, that relentless Allin chased them down. Castagnoli gave Allin every reason to stay down but Allin just doesn’t know when to quit. Thankfully, for him, the Riders sped off in that truck of theirs and that was that.
I found the display from Allin commendable because he’s showing that be he but little, he is fierce. And that’s necessary in this business because we as onlookers have to see how he can realistically compete. He’s only 30lbs. after all. Also, the display proves my point as how the Riders can’t run roughshod all the time. That gets boring and old. The roster has to push back just to make it interesting and force Jon Moxley and company to think. Maintaining dominance doesn’t come easy. He has to show he’s thinking about all this out there while still having fun. Keep up the good work. Don’t let the naysayers get too loud. This is going to take some time so, make sure it’s done right or at the very least, respectably. Honorable mention goes to Marina Shafir for swatting that fan’s hand when they made their appearance. Way to stay in character.
In the WWE Universe, there’s a lot of speculations as to who’s going to be brought on to bolster the RAW switch to Netflix. Currently, word is that Becky Lynch will probably be brought back soon to shore things up. It’s also speculated that Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns and CM Punk are requested talents for the red brand. We’ll see if they make the formal brand switch or just given reasons to stop by.
We can also anticipate Wade Barrett partially returning to the ring in the near future. What’s going around is that he may challenge Drew McIntyre in a brief program which I wouldn’t mind. Barrett seems to have found a niche on Commentary so, I kinda prefer him there but I don’t mind the occasional confrontation. Just like I hope to see Adam Pearce and Nick Alidis throwdown at some point. I think that would make a good match for a War Games/Survivor Series. We’ll stay posted to see if this is something that drops this year or waits until the next or so.
And so, that brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. There’s not that much advertised but we can more or less expect Bayley to direct traffic in a Triple Threat with herself, B-Fab and Candace LaRae. The Motor City Machine Guns may give the Street Profits more to complain about. Naomi will go for gold against Nia Jax and Cody Rhodes will open the festivities and get a feel for what’s on our minds.
I’ll be honest, I’m a little too curious about the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight so, I’ll be watching that first. After that, I’ll see what’s going on with SmackDown so I’ll be replaying around the 10 o’clock hour Pacific Time. Feel free to catch up with me if you’re otherwise detained.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
