Survivor Series / War Games 2024 - Matches of Interest...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

It’s another Survivor Series and I have to say I’m a little more excited than in previous years. The card is looking good and there’s good hype/momentum going in. It’s been a while since there’s been proper set up. It’s all very promising. Never would have thought to see it in my lifetime. Was sure I’d be talking shit forever. In any case, it’s a short card so here are the matches I’ll be especially looking forward to.

So, we’ll start with the Ladies’ War Game because they’ve been stirring it up for the past couple weeks. They’re all very capable women so I can’t even begin to speak on who may win. I get the feeling it won’t exactly be clean but I’m anticipating some wiliness. Someone will be caught out and a technicality exploited. I don’t really care how or who as long as it’s entertaining so all the Ladies really have to do is watch against trying too hard. I think if they just go out and have fun, they’ll have a respectable evening.

Next match of interest for me is LA Knight vs. Shinsuke Nakamura. I was actually under the impression that Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens would be boxing but I guess they’ll save that for Fallout. Knight and Nakamura are interesting since this is the return of Nakamura. Though how to use Nakamura can challenge WWE, he’s charismatic enough to utilize despite the language barrier.

I, for one, love how modern times are dissolving that barrier with translation apps. I haven’t been the most impressed with the translations for Nakamura but I can’t say I’m fluent enough in Japanese to officially protest. Regardless, I think it’s clear that he makes his point nonetheless and that’s all that matters.

In this head-to-head, Nakamura is the more compelling character but Knight has the popularity. Does Knight have any depth? Many seem to feel like Knight would be better playing a wrestler on a TV show than actually being one.  I think this is a time to prove what’s what one way or another. If Knight is going to make all those years of slanging amount to something, now is the time. He should aim to show us why we shouldn’t do this at home.

I’m rooting for Knight but I also want Nakamura to get his due. The match could go either way because of this, so let’s just hope it’s a good one and that the best man does in fact win.

And so, that leaves the Men’s War Game with the OG Bloodline facing off against Bloodline 2.0. There’s a lot that could happen here and though the focus is on which Bloodline reigns supreme, we’ll all be looking at how Roman Reigns and CM Punk play together.

I don’t remember if the SHIELD was formed for CM Punk but Commentary sure made it seem like that was the case which gives this union some added layers. I guess this will come down to whether these 2 can keep their egos out of it and stay focused on the goal.

All Bloodline 2.o has to do is remain a united front and wait for the OGs to falter. We’ll see what comes to pass and what it leads to. I’m not sure if now is the time to pull a Punk vs. Reigns feud, yet the seeds could be planted.

The only thing about that is believability. True, Punk made feuding with Drew McIntyre believable because McIntyre became his own worst enemy. The way Reigns plays, he’s too direct to be taken in by personal folly. He comes off like the type to see food and eat it. Not sure he’d appreciate Kobe beef outside the price tag. So, the question becomes how does Punk not end up beat up. Punk would have to be crafty but the tactic of prompting Reigns to self-destruct doesn’t have to be abandoned, just modified.

So, that’s what I’m looking at. I think everyone else has a good chance at building some street-cred for themselves so they just have to nail the assignment. I’m anticipating the Ladies’ War Game to take Match of the Night but the Intercontinental Championship Match with Ludwig Kaiser & Sheamus facing Bron Breakker in a Triple Threat could just as easily steal the show.  It’s always anybody’s game but some are more likely than others to take it. Let’s see if I know what I’m talking about.

The unofficial watch party is set for 3pm PST. Guess with the holiday weekend, just trying to knock this out. Got other things to do and people to see. No rush on my end. Stop by and make yourself comfortable.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
