SmackDown Accepts that WrestlePalooza Is the Next Destination...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
Happy Friday! I’ll let you in on a little secret. This may be one of the last ones I have as a “typical civilian”. My luck seems to be on the upswing but I’ll keep it to that until what’s going to be done, is in fact done. But I’ll just say I’m looking forward to living a less “encumbered” lifestyle.
As for the Wrestling World there is at least 1 thing to talk about but I would like to swing by the Realm of AEW first. Shall we get into it? Allow me.
Well, it looks like that new kid, Daniel Garcia is continuing to “make mistakes” as he broke and sided with Jon Moxley and his Riders of Death. The scrappy Darby Allin had to take a post match beating to confirm it. Yet, what I like most about this week’s showing is how people are responding to Mox in catering. Getting the hell out of there when he’s a coming is great for the Future. I envision a few instances when people get out of Dodge when they see him marching through. That’s why it all “falls apart” as it should. I love it! It’s early but the Future remains very Bright. Please proceed π
Over in the WWE Universe, news dropped that WrestleMania 43 will be held in Saudi Arabia and naturally, not everyone is thrilled about it. I understand the discomfort but you see how it is. Money is what talks and Saudis have a lot of old, old money. It’s hard to ignore or turn down.
Some commenters feel this is shortsighted. They feel that more focus should be directed into developing new talent and trying to gain new fans but that, to me, feels like wishful thinking. Not that new talent shouldn’t be developed but you see how it works in the Wrestling World. You either got it or you don’t. A lot of what sells is that which can’t exactly be taught and so “developing” new talent comes off as a “would be nice if it worked that way…” sort of sentiment.
As for new fans, I think this will always be the niche market that it is. It’s kinda like a secret club and given how the kids aren’t being encouraged to enjoy “violence”, it seems like it’s more politic to let others discover this when they’re of age so they can make an informed decision for themselves.
In that regard, all I can suggest is keeping the action fun and lively so that others can see why they’re friends and/or family like the product. It will never be everyone’s cup of tea and it shouldn’t try to be but if it keeps honest to the core of why this form of entertainment works, I think there will always be some sort of fanbase.
They basically need to make sure the company is providing a space for the raw talent that comes through to develop to its fullest potential. Whoever grabs the fans will grab the fans and they pretty much have to go from there. All they really can do is ensure that people get a fair shot, for the most part. What will be, will be after that. That’s the way it just seems to go. We’ll have to wait and see how this all actually manifests.
In the meantime, the build to WrestlePalooza continues. We can anticipate Sami Zayn being the “fighting champion” he is as he looks for a new opponent to challenge him for the US Title. Jade Cargill will see if she can handle Tiffany Stratton. Drew McIntyre has decided to not like Randy Orton for the time being and Brock Lesnar should be on hand to F5 anyone who looks at him funny.
The unofficial watch party will start at 8pm PDT. All I have to do is stick something in the oven for dinner, so I should be nice and comfortable by then. I suggest you do the same if you don’t have anything else better planned.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
