Crown Jewel-Perth ─ SmackDown Fallout...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
A happy Friday to you. Well, there are a couple things we can chat about today but overall, not much has grabbed my attention. That should make for a short post, but we’ll see. Ready to break the tidbits down? Let’s get to it.
Over in the Realm of AEW it does appear that we are getting some foreshadowing for the Future. I have to say that I was kinda proud of the vignette between Darby Allin and Jon Moxley. They’ve come such a long way and the potential for the Future seems confirmed. It’s quite exciting. On top of that, Allin has plenty to contemplate when going into an “I Quit” Match with Mox, especially if he’s beat to hell before the thing even starts.
All I’ll say is remember what didn’t work. I can appreciate giving this feud some gravitas but ultimately, we as spectators want to have fun. It’s hard to enjoy the thing when it just looks like Allin is getting picked on. Go too far and people’s morals get challenged. That’s why I don’t care for Death Matches. I’m not sadistic. I don’t want to see people in pain yet I do like action. And given the AEW Crowd, I wouldn’t want to upset them. They’re generally kinder than the ones in the WWE Universe. So, if Allin is going in with the imposed disadvantage, he has to counter with something that “evens the playing field”.
The Riders of Death will certainly rig the game so how can Allin win? Whatever he comes up with has to believably give him a chance. As long as it’s intelligent and reasonably believable, there’s a chance to make this all work. It’s these logistics that often lead me to suggest something humorous. The audience wants to be entertained, not prompted to rethink their pastimes. I understand Mox isn’t trying to win people over but go too far, and the point gets missed.
I’ll leave them to it. Allin and Mox are good performers and there’s enough to make things interesting but Allin has to be smart here. This thing can’t get too ridiculous or too cruel. I’ll catch the match after it’s all said and done. The Future remains Bright.
In the WWE Universe, injuries appear to be plaguing some of our top performers. We all know Seth Rollins busted up his shoulder but whether he goes for surgery or not has yet to be confirmed. I was thinking there was an outside chance that this is another feint like his knee injury. Is this even real? Most would say, yes but you know how Rollins is. Can you ever trust him?
For the time being, let’s just proceed with him having a shoulder injury. That sped up the inevitable betrayal from Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. So, we’ll see where they go with that.
Also, if Rollins is out for a time, this may allow someone no one is thinking about to make a splash. We’ll see who steps up now that there is generally more time to fill. I’ll wait until WWE presents some ideas of how it’s planning to proceed before I start speculating. Gotta see what we’re working with first.
Speaking of injuries, another notable one making the rounds is that Jacob Fatu has incurred one outside of wrestling. Not sure how much it impacts him but he’s still being advertised so maybe this is a work or something? Guess we’ll see.
And with that, we arrive at tonight’s SmackDown. There’s not much advertised for their Crown Jewel-Perth Fallout. What we can more or less expect is a better look at the Freshmen in Sol Ruca and Zaria as they take on the Seniors in Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair. Fatu is set to face Drew McIntyre so we’ll see if that actually goes down or if they just end up talking. McIntyre may be the one who grants Fatu’s PTO this time around. And Cody Rhodes will have a few gracious things to say after his defeat to Lord Rollins. It looks like he wins after all since he still has his health.
The unofficial watch party will start at 8pm PDT. I have to cook but it’s doesn’t take long so I’ll be nice and comfortable by then. It’s starting to get cold out there for us in the States so, I don’t blame you if you don’t feel like dealing with the elements. You know where to find me if you don’t have something else already set.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
