SmackDown Sees What Else Is Going On...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

 

Happy Friday! There are a few things we can chat about but this has been a kinda slow week. It’s only natural to have a lull from time to time. Makes the big events feel bigger. This should keep this a fairly short post so, let’s get into it so we can get on with our weekend. Here we go.

 

In the Realm of AEW, the focus is on All In at the end of the month. All the action and preparation is geared towards that. This doesn’t have too much to directly do with The Future but that’s all right. There’s plenty of time for that.

 

What I will say is that MJF is continuing to do his job. He is making it quite clear he can be a dick in his sleep so that’s perfect for executing Strike 1. That’s all it really needs, someone dick enough to do it.

 

Our Man Moxley doesn’t have any crossover business with MJF or Don Callis at the moment but that could easily change in the months to come. As for now, it looks like Jack “Jungle Boy” Perry is the focus given how his match went against Mox on this week’s Dynamite. It’s likely that Perry becomes a new Rider of Death in the near future.

 

Mox gave Perry a beating. Not sure where he got off thinking he could do that to Luke Perry’s kid but it’s done. Beat him “within an inch of his life” but this seems to be what it takes to get “jumped in” to death riding. One must be broken down so that they can rebuild one in their image.

 

This may not be a bad move for Perry. He’s on the smaller side so he may need a crew to run with and it’s better than the Bang Bang Gang so, I have no problem with it. Perry showed as much grit as he could muster so he earned the chance to move up the card. Paid for it in blood you could say.

 

This serves The Future in the sense that Mox continues to be a “threat to himself and others”. Mox isn’t bleeding but those who face have been of late. MJF can certainly use this for Strike 1 and Papa Christian and Uncle Edge can definitely document this to validate Strike 2. We shouldn’t see “Strike 3” until some time next year so we’ll let them have fun getting creative with the “Final Straw”.

 

It should be all kinds of buck-nutty by then so, it could be anything. I’m kinda hoping for something funny like them being out of ketchup in catering or something but it can be something more “heinous” of course. I don’t have to come up with all the ideas 😉

 

On a side note in AEW business, I hear Swerve Strickland has found himself in a predicament where he needs 2 more players in order to have a Trios Match. Speculation immediately went to the former New Day in Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods who many feel will be going by Austin Creed going forward.

 

Them being booked for Chris Jericho’s cruise kinda supports it as well. Technically, this could be considered insensitive as the only Black Tag Team must get partnered with Strickland. It couldn’t be the Motor City Machine Guns? But I’m not mad at it if it happens. It looks like it could fit in theory as Strickland knows what he’s doing out there and we know that both Creed and Kingston are no slouches in the ring. We’ll see what goes down.

 

In the WWE Universe, it sounds like Bayley got a little flak for playing both sides of the fence. Word is that more than 1 person raised an eyebrow at the inference she posted of perhaps maybe going to AEW. Hard to say if that’s a good or bad thing. I get the feeling WWE wouldn’t fight too hard for her though I don’t think it would hurt to mean business. WWE always has new talent coming up the ranks but whether they land or not is always a crap shoot. Bayley, for all intents and purposes, is a sure thing. WWE should value anyone who proves to be.

 

Regardless, it sounds like there’s time. What’s floating around is that Bayley’s contract isn’t up until some time in 2027 so, we should have a better read on the situation closer to the end of the year. We’ll see if they “have anything for her” between now and then. You know how I feel. Having something for her shouldn’t be the issue but that’s an old rant. Let’s see if she’s on TV anytime soon.

 

That brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. Focus is on Money in the Bank for the most part but there will be a Sunday Night: Main Event for us during Labor Day Weekend. In the meantime, we’ll get a Tag Team Triple Threat for the Championship as the War Raiders and Juggalos try to relieve Damian Priest and R-Truth. We can also expect the newbies to go at it as Jacy Jayne challenges Tiffany Stratton for the US Championship. Carmelo Hayes will see if he can regain the US Championship from Baron Corbin. And Cody Rhodes will try to find where Randy Orton has been “viping”. Rhodes still wants a piece of Orton for interfering with the Undisputed Championship Match.

  

As for me, I have to cook tonight but the prep is done for the most part so, just gotta put it in the pot and wait. I should be nice and ready to go by show time. For those staying in, I hope you’ll be nice and settled as well. Let’s have a satisfying end to the week, shall we?
