Survivor Series / War Games 2024 - Matches of Interest...

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? It’s another Survivor Series and I have to say I’m a little more excited than in previous years. The card is looking good and there’s good hype/momentum going in. It’s been a while since there’s been proper set up. It’s all very promising. Never would have thought to see it in my lifetime. Was sure I’d be talking shit forever. In any case, it’s a short card so here are the matches I’ll be especially looking forward to. So, we’ll start with the Ladies’ War Game because they’ve been stirring it up for the past couple weeks. They’re all very capable women so I can’t even begin to speak on who may win. I get the feeling it won’t exactly be clean but I’m anticipating some wiliness. Someone will be caught out and a technicality exploited. I don’t really care how or who as long as it’s entertaining so all the Ladies really have to do is watch against trying too hard. I think if they just go out and have fun, they’ll have a respectable evening.  Next match of i...

SmackDown Places the Final Touches for Survivor Series / War Games....

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? For those who celebrated, did you enjoy Thanksgiving? Have to say that it was all that it should have been for my set, food, family and friends. It was a successful evening if I may say so myself. Given the holiday vibes, this post will be brief but we can kick around a few things. Let’s get to it. So, we’ll skip the Realm of AEW this week as they appear to be laying the foundation for bigger and better things for the time being and so we’ll leave them to it. As for the WWE Universe, there appears to be a few things going on. It is Go-Home week despite the holiday. Cody Rhodes got some visibility as he was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this week. Fallon is a WWE affiliation as he tends to always welcome its stars on the show. Looks like it was Rhodes’ turn this time. He managed to get some digs on Kevin Owens while promoting this weekend’s PPV.  On the grapevine, there’s word that the plan for bringing Drew McIntyre back to the fold is ...

RAW Does Its Job and Sends Everyone Home for Survivor Series / War Games...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Welcome to a new week and Happy Thanksgiving to my stateside readers. We got some stuff to chat about today. Let’s not waste time and get right into it. It’s only some, so it shouldn’t take too long. Ready? Here we go! We’ll start over in the Realm of AEW as they had their Full Gear PPV over the past weekend. It’s no surprise that Match of the Night went to Will Osprey and Kyle Fletcher but it looks like Mercedes Moné and Kris Statlander took the Silver. From what snipits I could find, I can see why. Good for them! As for the Moxley Takeover tinged main event between Jon Moxley and Orange Cassidy, it didn’t medal amongst onlookers but the match itself was fine. It’s everything that spilled out after that soured palettes. For what I’m looking at, I didn’t mind it. Moxley just bullied Cassidy but Cassidy hung tough. Moxley retained with help and distractions so Cassidy loses no face. Mox does have to contemplate how to make this experiment more engaging...

SmackDown Returns to Live Action for War Games / Survivor Series....

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? How’d the week treat you? Meh, it wasn’t that exciting on my end but as usual, just glad it’s over. As for the Wrestling World there are some grumblings but per usual, not that it moved me much, but we have a few things to kick around. Ready? Here we go. First, we’ll stop in the Realm of AEW and check in on this Death Riders Domination. I guess the bigger news is that Toni Storm is “retiring” from pro-wrestling. Given the nature of this disclosure, it’s pretty clear it’s a work of some sort so, we’ll let the lady do her thing.  As for Jon Moxley’s crew, I like how both Darby Allin and Orange Cassidy are doing what they can to slow down their train. Someone has to 😉 Yet, in both cases, my case and point was kinda proven. Regardless, I’ll just start with how both Allin and Cassidy are proving their chops and kinda growing on me in the process. Allin, though a solid 45lbs. wet, just won’t quit and Cassidy is a solid worker. He may have made it up t...

RAW Leaves Us Something to Keep Us Occupied Before War Games / Survivor Series...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? A Merry Monday to you! Is it treating you well? I’ve definitely had worse, I’ll just say that. As has been the case of late, there hasn’t been the most thrilling news circulating in the Wrestling World but enough went on that we have something to have a short chat about. What do you say? Can you spare a little time? This should be quick. Well, as you noticed, I was one of many drawn in by the spectacle that was Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson. I took a look, as much as the Netflix app would allow and disappointing doesn’t even touch on what went down. The general consensus was if Tyson didn’t knock out Paul in the 1st round that would be it and it was. There was about 30 seconds at the beginning that Paul about crapped his pants but after that, it was just an old man trying to hang with a relatively young one.  The promoters should have known better. I don’t mind these cash grab matches as long as it’s worth watching. Tyson just couldn’t really go. If they’re ...

SmackDown Follows the New Course to War Games / Survivor Series...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Happy Friday! So, it’s not the most exciting week. There’s stuff going on but nothing setting the world on fire. This should be a fairly short post, so if you have a few minutes to spare, feel free to continue to read through. Let’s see what’s caught my eye. We’ll stop first in the Realm of AEW as the Moxley Takeover is in full effect but what I liked about this past week was how other players got some more visibility. I have to say Darby Allin jumping on the Death Riders from the top of the entryway was fun to watch. See, if you’re gonna descend from the sky it might as well be on top of someone. Why go through all the drama for no effect? Also, Claudio Castagnoli aka Cesaro was subtly humorous contradicting Wheeler Yuta. I hope that was just a dash of foreshadowing, but we’ll see. Castagnoli also demonstrated what he brings to the table, as we all know that though he is leanly built, he’s one of the strongest in the Industry pound-for-pound. When the Ride...

RAW Changes Course for War Games/Survivor Series...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   How’s this Monday, treating you? Well, as usual, there are things floating around but only a few tidbits caught my interest. Should be a short post. Up for it? Let’s get into it.   Over in the Realm of AEW, the Moxley Takeover hit a small snag this past week but it appears to be all part of the plan.  If this story ─ if it goes where I think it may go ─ is to make it to its final destination, there should be many fits and starts. Besides, why can’t Jon Moxley and Company show that they are fallible and human? We shouldn’t forget this should we or more importantly, the AEW Roster shouldn’t forget.   To advance the notion, Mox has claimed in a recent interview that this is only the beginning. He’s hitting the reset button and wiping the drive. No data kept.   Everyone will have to start from scratch. Well, since this is the beginning, I hope AEW has their backup storage options ready to go. Why should Mox have all the fun...

Crown Jewel VI 2024 - SmackDown Fallout....

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Well, there’s stuff going on, but I’ll be honest. It’s an uncertain time in the United States of America. I’ll give a little personal insight to start and then we’ll happily escape into the Wrestling World. I just feel I have to offer a take on this whole thing. Now, for my international readers, let me just say that Americans, generally speaking, have never been known for their smarts and this year’s election proved why unfortunately. Middle America has this idea/concept of America that I as a female person of color could never fully relate to. I see all too often the hypocrisy and unfairness. So, when Donald Trump first came through with this whole “Make America Great Again” concept, I never really understood to what he was referring.  I’m supposing it’s some Baby Boomer sentiment of when things were cheap and plentiful. You could happily and relatively easily go about buying your house with the picket fence, have your 2.5 kids and leave your front do...

Crown Jewel VI 2024 - RAW Fallout

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Did you have a chance to catch Crown Jewel VI? It was a solid show from start to finish. There really wasn’t a bad match. Some commenters may disagree but given how PPVs were hit or miss not too long ago, WWE has nothing to be upset about with last weekend’s display. It was what a wrestling show ought to be. Why don’t we talk a little about it, among other things? Most would say that GUNTHER vs. Cody Rhodes was Match of the Night though I preferred Kevin Owens kicking it old school and going ballistic on Randy Orton. I don’t know where it goes but I’m fine with Owens “keeping it real”.  Some people griped about the Bloodline Match with Roman Reigns losing clean to Solo Sikoa. Many also noted how this match had the least “wrestling” as well which should have been expected. The Bloodline and all those associated have never been great wrestlers. They are “ass-kickers” for all intents and purposes. If you’re looking to them for a fine wrestling match, you’r...

Crown Jewel VI 2024 - Matches of Interest

Image
What’s Going On, Enthusiasts?  It’s another Crown Jewel and I’m not sure we can call it an “exhibition” anymore. It’s much more of a spectacle now, which is the natural progression. Imagine that 😉 The whole card has the potential to slap, as the kids say, but will it? It’s not impossible. Given what’s on the docket, these following matches are the ones I’m looking at. They give me a lot to think about. We’ll start with Liv Morgan and Nia Jax. These Davida vs. Golitha matches are always amusing because it’s always how is that little one gonna do it? All Jax has to do is trip and Morgan is dunzo.  So, how do we stay invested in the match? It’s all up to Morgan and probably some interference from Dominik Mysterio. Is Mysterio about to get “squashed”? Or does Tiffany Stratton cash in? That would be the obvious route. It has been teased.  All I ever asked with these sorts of showdowns is believability. I don’t mind interference or slight cheating as long as it’s semi-r...
